This privacy policy tells you what data Yuki no Kuni collects, what we do with it, and how long we keep it. It is written in plain English. There is no legalese version.
What we collect
- Account data — if you sign up: email, display name, password (hashed with bcrypt, never stored in plaintext), and the listings you save.
- Page views — every page request is logged with: the URL, a daily-rotated hash of your IP address, your user-agent string, and the referrer if any. We use this to measure traffic; we cannot reverse-engineer individuals from the hash.
- Search queries — we log the queries you run on the index (e.g. "Nagano under ¥3M") to improve search relevance.
- Newsletter — if you subscribe: email address only.
What we do not collect
- Browser fingerprinting beyond the user-agent string.
- Third-party tracking cookies. We have one cookie: your session ID, set when you sign in.
- Behavioural data we don't need. We don't track scroll depth, clicks, or mouse movement.
- Payment data. If you subscribe, payment is handled by Stripe; we receive only your customer-ID reference.
What we do with it
We use account data to let you sign in, save listings, and receive the newsletter. We use page views and search queries internally to improve the site — e.g. to know which regions to prioritize. We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties, except as legally required.
How long we keep it
- Account data — until you delete your account.
- Page views — 90 days, then aggregated.
- Search queries — 365 days.
- Newsletter — until you unsubscribe.
How to get your data, or delete it
Email hello@yukinokuni.com with the subject "data request" and we will export everything we have about you within seven business days. For deletion, email "data deletion" with the same subject; we will confirm within seven business days and the deletion is permanent.
